EVENT RISK CALCULATOR

WHAT IS AN EVENT MEDICAL SERVICES RISK CALCULATOR?

St John Ambulance Gibraltar (SJA-Gib) realised that event planning can be an overwhelming undertaking where many event organisers may feel unsure of the level of Event Medical resources (first aiders, medical personnel and Ambulances) required to hold an event.

To facilitate this process SJA-Gib have taken guidance from the UK Health and Safety Executives Purple Guide for event planning and have designed an Event Medical Services Risk Calculator scoring system. This system will guide event organisers through the planning process for Event Medical provisions required to run an event safely.

It is important to remember that an Ambulance by definition is used to transport patients to hospital when required and so your provider MUST be registered with the Care Quality Commission. The Health and Safety Executive also stress that Ambulances should not be used as a treatment centre/area.

In order to get a better idea of the level of event medical services your event requires, simply answer the questions on the Event Medical Services Risk Calculator below to get your score and then use the conversion table to see what level of medical services you might require at your event.

PLEASE NOTE: it is a requirement for a 2 week minimum notice or potentially risk that your event may not be covered by St John Ambulance due to time constraints.

DISCLAIMER: For sporting events the event organiser/coordinator must not rely on our below risk calculator as it is based on the PURPLE Guide for Public Events and must seek advice from the GREEN Guide for Sporting Events to ensure it is adhering to the correct regulatory guidelines.
