Become a volunteer
Our volunteers are the face of our charitable work. If you are over 18, and want to save lives in your community, we’d love you to join our team. A range of opportunities is a available.
Finding the right role
Whatever our skills, there’s a volunteer role for you:
- First aider imagine how it would feel to be part of a team that saves lives. As a first aider, you’ll deliver care to people in need at public events in your community.
- Healthcare professionals nurses, doctors, and paramedics play a vital role for us at larger events. Clinical leaders support professional development to help us to keep our standards high.
- Working with young people as a youth leader, you could teach life-saving skills to the next generation, and offer them life-changing opportunities.
What you’ll get in return
Volunteer with us, and we’ll teach you first aid (whatever role you’ve signed up to).
We’ll also make sure that you get all the training and support you need to excel in your role. All we ask in return is that you’re professional in your approach and committed to our life saving work.
Who can get involved?
Adult volunteers need to be over 18 years old if you’re not yet 18, visit our young people section to find out about opportunities open to you.
As leaders in event medical care, our mission is to provide cost effective, high quality event medical cover by providing to right staff and the right equipment at the right place, within your event. Our commitment to patient care will ensure that visitors to your event receive the best possible treatment by our fully trained First Aiders and First Responders. Our Dual Manned Ambulances bring the A&E department to your event. Whether it’s a cut, major trauma or a cardiac arrest our ambulances are equipped to deal with almost any pre-hospital incident.
Our mobile treatment centre is fully equipped with heating and cooling, lighting and running water which is designed to be self-contained and able to deal with emergencies undercover and in private. Whether it’s a multiple-sited large event over several days or a small local community event, we can help support your event.
Opportunities for young people
We believe that every young person should have the opportunity to learn basic life-saving skills.
St John Gibraltar offers all young people the opportunity to participate in our youth groups, whether you’re aged five or 25.
If you’re aged between five and 10, you can join Badgers. Learn first aid, have fun, and you could even become a Super Badger!
10 to 17 years old? You can become Cadets. You’ll get the best first aid training and a wide choice of other activities. You’ll never be stuck for something to do.
18 to 25 years old? You can volunteer as an adult, but within our young adults group. Opportunities are there to provide first aid cover to public events along with the adult volunteers.
Use St John volunteers at a public event
As part of raising funds, our trained and skilled volunteers are available to provide first aid service at every function you may have (subject to availability). St John Gibraltar’s volunteers have provided first aid services at sporting events, public occasions, and are also available for other celebrations.
